Peyton plans events for a living, which makes her a very hard person to surprise. So when Dillon decided to propose at The Mason, one of her favorite venues in Dallas, he needed a story she would actually believe.

He got one of her closest friends to set up a fake client. A venue tour. Top floor. Peyton walked in expecting to talk through a floor plan.

What she found instead

The Mason is a historic building in Oak Cliff, Dallas with the kind of vintage charm that does not need much added to it. Dillon kept it simple on purpose. Candles everywhere, white roses, soft love songs playing through the space, and him standing there waiting.

Seven years together and it still stopped them both. I was tucked in a corner with a camera and the room was quiet enough that I could hear her gasp when she reached the doorway. He got down on one knee. She said yes.

Why I love photographing proposals here

The Mason has such beautiful light and a historic feel. Shooting film here gives it an even more nostalgic look. 

What came next

Peyton and Dillon went on to have two engagement sessions and a modern fall wedding at Hotel Crescent Court that ended in a Moulin Rouge inspired Red Room. You can see all of it here:
