I’m so excited to finally be able to share this Elegant Armenian wedding at Chapel Ana Villa! Shant and Meghedi gave us the extreme honor of letting us photograph such a joyous day filled with so many traditions and it was the most fun I have ever had at a wedding!
The day was divided in several parts and started very early that morning. Shant and the groomsmen began to get ready at The Statler hotel in downtown Dallas while Meghedi and the bridesmaids began the getting ready process at her parents home. Where I then was told the Khosk-Arnel would happen. It is when the groom wants to ask permission to marry the bride, he is invited to her her home. The house was decorated with gorgeous flowers along the staircase and serving trays of food waited for the guests and festivities to begin. The groom arrived with a traditional music band playing all the way to the front door and then in the home. He brought along his family and friends, as well as gifts for her family, such as chocolate, drinks, the bride’s shoes and flowers. The band played and people danced Red and green ribbons were pinned on the groom’s shirt. While Meghedi’s brother followed another Armenian tradition by placing money on the bride’s shoes and then putting them on her feet for good luck.
Meghedi came out and Shant and her had their first look! They danced and then the oldest person of the groom’s family which was his grandfather asked for the bride’s hand in marriage for his grandson. When father accepted the real party began! they enjoyed drinks and food and laughter! When it was time to for the groom to take off with his bride to be the brother, took out a short knife and it was my understanding that the groom had to bribe the brother to let him take her! After a while he acceded and the party moved outdoors before heading off to the ceremony at .St. Philopateer Coptic Church
This elegant Armenian wedding held so many beautiful moments. The couple received crowns from the priest. The crowns were placed on the couple’s heads during the ceremony to symbolize the fact that they now have their own little “kingdom”. Which I think was so wonderful!
Meghedi gave each of her bridesmaids a jean jacket as a wedding gift. Each of the girls has their own special date of when she met each of them! How freaking special is that?!! I loved the nude palette she chose for the dresses and the bright flowers that accentuated everything so well!!
Her wedding reception at Chapel at Ana Villa was so exquisite and everything was so pleasingly graceful in every way! The couple had a custom monogrammed wall with their names and their wedding date. The main head table was decorated with tall gold standing pieces that held gorgeous blooms and greenery. Each plate setting had a custom gold guest name. Black and white linens that helped keep the room classic and timeless. Candles lit, and hanging tea lights set the mood for this romantic wedding day at Chapel Ana Villa. The wedding cake was a naked cake, adorned with white and dusty pink roses and a gold Mr and Mrs Ghoskasiyan.
They made a grand entrance with sparklers that lit up on the floral adorned staircase and it was the most wonderful thing I have seen for a couple’s announcement! As they did their first dance guests showered them with money and turns out this was also another lovely Armenian tradition! The wedding, from beginning to end was fabulous! non-stop dancing and laughter! It ended with a grand finale of a sparkler exit where they rode off in a vintage car!
I cannot put into words the great honor I have had meeting these two beautiful people and being able to not only photograph their stunning wedding day, but also meeting their friends and family and being able to celebrate with them! It will truly always sit on my heart just how much I truly enjoyed being with them!
