The Dallas Arboretum with all it’s beauty is one of my favorite locations for an engagement session. Andrea and Matt met about 9.5yrs ago in an English/Literature course at a local community college during their summer 2008 break back home from college. He sat behind her and would walk Andrea to her car after class, but it was all platonic. He later moved to DC for a few years after college then returned back home to Texas in 2015, in which they unexpectedly ran into each other and the rest is history!
Andrea recounts the details:
“One of our friends is a photographer, and she had reached out to me about a “cancelled couples shoot”. She had scheduled for that upcoming weekend and wanted to know if we were available to fill in their spot, since she needed this shoot for the launching of her website. I hesitantly asked Matt (because what guy is going to be excited about a photo shoot) if he would be interested in helping her. He initially seemed unsure mostly because he had a bachelor party planned for the night before, but said he would be willing to help her out. That Saturday morning, July 29, we woke up early, drove out to Airfield Falls Conservation Park, and began our shoot. It was unbearably hot and humid, but I was so proud of Matt for being such a trooper for our friend. We walked around to different locations of the park and once we were about 1.5hrs into the shoot, we arrived to our last location which had these beautiful waterfalls. We landed on this big rock, and our friend told Matt to twirl me and then stated their ‘secret code,’ .”Matt fix your collar,” which indicated when he would start proposing, but I wouldn’t stop twirling (haha). He stopped me, looked at me teary-eyed with his sweet smile, then got down on one knee and started proposing. I was in such utter shock, all I could do was tremble and was literally weak at the knees. It was all so unexpected, but he planned it out so perfectly that it was the best surprise I have ever experienced and will cherish that moment forever!”
I asked her what she was most excited about as she and Matt plan their wedding and she says :
