The Alexander Mansion is a 1904 Beaux Arts home on Ross Avenue in Dallas, yellow brick and two story columns, oak paneled rooms, seven fireplaces, and a grand staircase under stained glass. It’s one of only two mansions left from the era when the whole avenue looked like this, and the kind of house that makes engagement photos look like they were taken sixty years ago. For couples who want an old money engagement session in Dallas, I’m not sure there’s a better room in the city than that front parlor.
A white satin corset gown with a scarf at the neck. A black tuxedo. A marble bust on the mantel that ended up in half the frames. Shot on 35mm and 120 film with a roll of black and white for the fireplace and the window, and one long exposure on the front steps to end on. Nothing about it was styled to look old money. It just was.
The Alexander Mansion is one of the most striking historic locations in Dallas for couples drawn to old money, vintage, or editorial aesthetics. If you’re planning an engagement session at the Alexander Mansion or another historic Dallas home, start with the engagement session investment guide. And if you’re getting married somewhere with this much history, I’d love to talk about Dallas wedding photography.
