Tips on Having the Best Engagement Photo Shoot

Engagement Photo Session. Yes you need one. Yes it will be fun! Here are a few tips on having the best engagement photo shoot ever! When my brides book me, they book well in advance and the first thing we talk about is engagement photos.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Where WE shoot is as important as what to wear. Couples should choose a location important to them, one that has meaning. If you cannot think of anything or for those that maybe met in another state and want something in the Dallas or Fort Worth area. The best thing is to think about what kind of background you would like.  I’ll usually ask this right off the bat and give you several options to narrow down the list and find the perfect one.

  Or you can opt for the opposite of your wedding, so that your wedding and engagement photos are different when you look at the scenery or season. Winter wedding? Opt for a summer shoot. City venue? or a Downtown location. Choose a garden setting or somewhere with lush greenery. Dallas and Fort Worth have beautiful places to pick from.  The contrast will help balance your collection of images and change things up a bit.  Or maybe you want the same location as your wedding. That’s always a great idea too!

TRAVEL OR DESTINATION

If no special place comes to mind, then leave that part to me! Can’t find something local you want? Then maybe a destination engagement session is just what you need! A cool engagement session in the mountains, on the beach, or some exoctic place?! Let’s go! Want something different? I’m your gal and my passport is always ready!  Whatever your choice, It will be unique to you and your fiance and it will be awesome! 

SEASON

You can also change the season to fit what you’re looking for. I encourage you to schedule your shoot whenever you want it.  Don’t think that because you’re getting married in the fall you need to wait until Fall to do the engagement session. I’ve had couples do an engagement session one-two years from their wedding, after they get engaged, not yet knowing their wedding date, or even several weeks right before the big day!! Please just don’t skimp out on doing an engagement session! It’s the time I get to know you more and you get to see a little preview of just what to expect on your wedding day! Plus, all my brides will agree….my sessions are always easy and comfortable and FUN!
