Planning a wedding can be stressful. There are so many things to prepare in the months before your wedding day. One of the biggest decisions you’ll have to make is, which venue is perfect for your big day. Because venues tend to get booked so far in advance, this should be one of the first things on your to-do list. Before you book any of your other amazing vendors, like your wedding photographer or florist, you should book your wedding venue first!!
Your wedding venue will have more influence on your wedding than any other decision-It will determine your style and aesthetic, your guest count, and even the how your timeline of the day will flow.
If you have an upcoming wedding, here are my best tips on how to pick your wedding venue. Things you should take into consideration before selecting your venue.
KEEP YOUR BUDGET IN MIND
It’s easy to get out of hand when it comes to wedding planning. Before you go into the venue for the first time, it’s important that you come up with the budget set aside specifically for your venue. If you’re unsure how to break down your budget, consider hiring a local wedding planner to get information of the average price of venues in your area.
IMAGINE THE GUESTS’ EXPERIENCE
While your wedding day is your day, you should also take your guests into consideration. If you are planning to have your ceremony and reception at two different places, how long will it take guests to drive from one location to the other? Is there a hotel nearby for out-of-town guests to stay at?
ALIGN WITH YOUR VISION
Although you may have heard great things about a specific location, if it doesn’t align with your aesthetic, it may not be for you. Whether you prefer a smaller, cozy venue or something a bit more spacious, what’s important is that it meshes with your overall look and feel.
DETERMINE WHAT’S INCLUDED
As you figure out the budget for your venue, figure out what’s included with each location. Some places will offer tables, chairs, linens, etc., while others expect you to provide your own. Make sure you also include tax into the overall cost of the venue too!
